This technical kayaking expedition takes you into the heart of the Siete Tazas National Park, where the Río Claro flows through narrow canyons, emerald pools, and dozens of clean waterfalls. This 8-day trip is for advanced paddlers with solid boofing and creeking skills, offering progression from Class III+ to Class V, all under expert guide supervision. A visually spectacular and deeply rewarding journey.

Itinerary at a glance
Arrival in Santiago and transfer to Cajón del Maipo. After settling in, head out for a first descent on the Lower Maipo, a fun and dynamic section to loosen up and get on the water.
Dinner and overnight at Cascada de las Ánimas.
A full day on the river exploring both Upper and Lower Maipo sections, adjusting to flow, lines, and team dynamics.If conditions allow, there is an option to paddle the Río Yeso, offering a more technical and remote experience.
Morning option to either paddle again or visit the Refugio Animal Cascada, gaining insight into Chile’s native wildlife and conservation work.
After lunch, begin the 4–5 hour transfer south to the Río Claro / Siete Tazas National Park area.
Arrival and overnight in rustic cabins near the park entrance.
Start with the Siete Tazas section, an ideal introduction to waterfall paddling with clean lines and good recovery pools.
Focus on scouting, boofing technique, and building confidence.
First descent of the iconic 22 Saltos section, navigating continuous drops, clean waterfalls, and narrow channels in one of the most unique river environments in Chile.
Continue progression with a combination of Entre Saltos and a second descent of 22 Saltos, refining technique, line choice, and fluid movement through the canyon.
Choose your final descent:
- Re-run 22 Saltos (Class III+–IV)
- Or step up to the more committing La Garganta canyon (Class V)
Celebrate the week with a farewell BBQ in the evening.
Transfer back toward Santiago Airport.
