Your Patagonia adventure begins with a breathtaking regional flight from Puerto Montt to the remote coastal village of Chaitén, offering incredible aerial views of fjords, volcanoes, glaciers, and the wild landscapes of Northern Patagonia.
Upon arrival in Chaitén, our team will meet the group and begin the scenic drive toward Futaleufú. Along the way, we pass turquoise lakes, hanging glaciers, temperate rainforests, and dramatic mountain peaks as we travel deeper into the heart of Patagonia.
After arriving at the lodge and settling into your riverside accommodations, guests will meet the guides for a welcome orientation and trip briefing before enjoying the first of many incredible Patagonia meals together.
Experience one of the world’s most famous whitewater rivers on an unforgettable rafting journey through turquoise rapids, granite canyons, and untouched Patagonia wilderness.
Depending on river levels and group preferences, the day may include iconic sections such as Bridge to Bridge, the Terminator section, or Inferno Canyon.
Between rapids, enjoy opportunities for swimming, cliff jumping, riverside relaxation, and photography.
Today focuses on exploring the incredible landscapes surrounding the Futaleufú Valley on foot.
Guides will select from a variety of hiking options depending on weather conditions and group interests, ranging from relaxed forest walks to more demanding mountain trails. Possible destinations include waterfalls, hidden lagoons, riverside viewpoints, old-growth forests, and remote Patagonia valleys.
The pace is flexible and immersive, with time to fully enjoy the surrounding wilderness.
Spend the day exploring the crystal-clear waters of the Río Espolón by packraft or kayak.
Surrounded by mountains, native forest, and turquoise water, this experience offers a quieter and more intimate connection with Patagonia’s landscapes. Depending on conditions, guests may paddle calm river sections, explore side channels, or combine the day with short hikes and scenic stops.

Explore remote mountain terrain on foot through ancient forests, hidden trails, rivers, and dramatic viewpoints surrounded by the Andes. Depending on weather conditions and the interests of the group, the day may include hikes of varying difficulty levels, allowing guests to fully experience the wilderness at their own pace.
Throughout the journey, guides share insights into Patagonia’s ecosystems, local history, and the unique lifestyle of this remote region.
The experience culminates with a traditional Patagonian asado in a spectacular natural setting — a relaxed afternoon of local food, fire, wine, and conversation surrounded by mountains and old-growth forest.

Today remains intentionally flexible, allowing guides to choose the best experience depending on weather conditions and group interests.
Guests may explore the stunning Río Azul by kayak or packraft, paddling through crystal-clear Patagonia waters surrounded by native forest and dramatic mountain scenery.
Alternatively, the day may focus on a horseback riding adventure through remote valleys, rivers, forests, and traditional Patagonia landscapes alongside local horsemen. This experience offers a unique perspective into the culture, history, and wilderness lifestyle of the region.

Depending on weather and group interests, guests may revisit a favorite activity, explore a new trail, spend time on the river, or simply relax and take in the incredible scenery surrounding the valley.
In the evening, celebrate the expedition with a traditional Patagonian asado and farewell dinner under the stars.
Transfer back to Chaitén for the regional flight to Puerto Montt or continuation of your Patagonia adventure.
Additional kayaking, hiking, wildlife, or multisport extensions throughout Chile can be arranged.
Travel Logistics & Arrival Information
Due to the remote location of Futaleufú in Northern Patagonia, reaching the valley requires a combination of domestic flights and ground transportation. While this journey takes additional coordination, it is part of what makes the region so wild, untouched, and special.
Guests should plan to fly from Santiago (SCL) to Puerto Montt (PMC) one day prior to the start of the expedition and spend the night in Puerto Montt. The following morning, travelers will take a regional flight from La Paloma Airport (Puerto Montt) to Chaitén.
Our team will meet guests upon arrival in Chaitén and provide group transportation to Futaleufú, a scenic drive through some of Patagonia’s most spectacular landscapes.
We are happy to assist guests in coordinating all logistics related to flights, recommended hotels, and connections to ensure a smooth arrival process. Please note that flights, hotels in Puerto Montt, and additional travel expenses before the expedition are not included in the trip price.
